De Pastorie is more than a bed & breakfast with a brasserie and a chocolaterie. It is a place where hospitality and a second chance go hand in hand, in the old presbytery at the foot of the cathedral, right in the centre of Roermond.
Anyone who drinks a coffee at De Pastorie, sits down at a table or stays the night helps someone move forward without even noticing. Since 2009 we have worked together with MatchWinners: people who are at a distance from the job market learn the trade here in a sheltered work-and-learning environment. In the kitchen, in the service, in the housekeeping, and since 2018 also behind the counter of the chocolaterie. So every cup of coffee and every overnight stay is a little bit of support for someone taking a next step.
That idea runs through everything we do. We are an ordinary hospitality business with a warm, informal atmosphere, and at the same time a place where there is room to learn, to grow and to be allowed to make mistakes. What our guests notice above all is the warmth of it.
The house itself is the former presbytery at the foot of St Christopher's Cathedral, a listed building in the oldest part of Roermond. Behind the historic facade are high ceilings and original details, while everything you use as a guest is of this era. It is a house with a story, and you feel it the moment you step inside.
Under that same roof you will find three things that belong together. Our bed & breakfast has twelve rooms, each named after a piece of Limburg history, spread across two buildings. In the brasserie you can go for coffee with cake, a generous lunch or a dinner of Limburg classics. And in the chocolaterie you will find handmade bonbons and chocolate specialities to enjoy on the spot or take home as a gift.
Together those three make De Pastorie what it is: a place where you can sleep, dine and enjoy, and where your visit does something good at the same time.
